Calling all emergent writers!

Bleux Stockings!

Where are you sending your work between BSS shows? If the answer is nowhere, we have a couple of suggestions:

The Five Hundred is a monthly literary journal specializing in flash fiction. Each month, everyone who submits has their story posted, and everyone who submits is expected to leave feedback for their fellow writers. We cannot stress enough what an invaluable resource this is for all writers. Guaranteed, thoughtful feedback from other people who do what you do is hard to come by, and the folks over at The Five Hundred take that shit seriously.

Gutwrench is a new, Atlanta-based literary journal run by two veterans of the city's live-lit scene, and we really like the cut of their jib. Gutwrench co-founder Daniel Lamb puts it real well:

"While there are many opportunities to perform in front of crowds and submit to scholarly and high literary journals, there do not exist a plethora of spaces to represent the emergent writers who tend to get passed over by the dominant literary culture. Thus, we call upon you, whether you are a writer who wants to submit some work, or you know aspiring writers who have yet to break out into the scene of readings and submissions, to help spread the word and come to us with your work, that we might together contribute to a collective ethos of grassroots production in this digital space."

Sounds pretty damn good to us.

Gutwrench is currently accepting prompt-related submissions for "fiction, audio, video, art, poetry, nonfiction, indescribable, literary, and otherwise gritty little things" until March 31st. Make sure you check out their mission page while you're there. It's thrilling.
